The attorney, best known for his work with Stormy Daniels, tweeted a statement on Thursday morning, saying he, "recently uncovered and recovered ... a VHS videotape of Mr. Kelly engaging in multiple sexual assaults of a girl underage. This tape, which is clear, is approximately 45 minutes in length and has never previously been publicized or, until now, provided to law enforcement."
Avenatti stressed the video was different from the video that surfaced during Kelly's child pornography trial, where he was ultimately acquitted. He says they have turned the video over to Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx.
According to CNN, which says they have seen the video, there are two explicit sex scenes on the tape, where the girl in the video refers to her genitalia six times as being 14 years old.
CNN says the video shows the girl urinating and the man, believed to be R. Kelly, urinating on her.
As for his involvement, Avenatti claims his client is a former employee of Kelly's who can positively ID the girl and has met her on several occasions.
An attorney for R. Kelly told CNN he is "unaware of any new information involving R. Kelly."
