The Queen has given her official blessing for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
As dictated by the Succession to the Crown Act, Harry must obtain formal permission before he gets married. That came on Thursday, via a formal letter from Kensington Palace.
“My Lords,” the letter begins, “I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”
Harry and Meghan are due to be married at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19.
