In new court documents obtained by The Blast, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have agreed to mediate in private following their successful child custody agreement in New York. Although they have ongoing court battles in Miami, Florida, and the U.K., they have agreed to dismiss the Miami case, as it can always be reactivated in the future if the need arises.

In the filing, Joe and Sophie agree to settle on all other items in private mediation -- instead of hashing it out in court. As you know, IF the former couple continues fighting in court, the documents and information are made public.

As for the future, "They continue to pursue an amicable resolution of all issues in this matter."

As part of the agreement reached between the parties, (Joe) will file a notice of dismissal for claims related to parenting.

The couple will be back in New York City on January 2 in order to finalize their custody agreement after agreeing to a temporary agreement for the holidays. According to the latest interim consent order, the “Game of Thrones” actress will have custody of the couple’s two daughters - Willa, who is 3, and Delphine, who is 1 – from October 9 through October 21.

While the two girls are in her custody, she will be able to bring them to her home in the U.K. or wherever else she desires, within the U.S. or the U.K. However, both girls must be back in New York City on October 21, where they will be “transferred” into the custody of the “Sucker” singer, who will have the children from October 21 through November 2.

Joe Jonas will be spending Halloween with the girls, although it is likely that the Jonas Brothers will be on tour. He is allowed to bring the girls throughout the U.S. while they tour, as the group is scheduled to perform in Austin, Texas, San Diego, California, and Anaheim, California, during the time that Joe has custody.

On November 2, the day that he is supposed to bring the girls back to New York City, the Jonas Brothers are scheduled to play in Fresno, California. As a result, their nanny has been given the authority to bring the girls to New York City so they can be transferred into Sophie’s custody.

Sophie will have the children from November 2 through November 22, which means that Joe will have the girls for Thanksgiving. He will maintain custody of the children until December 16, at which time he will return them to New York City.

Sophie will be able to take the girls to the U.K. from December 16 through January 7, in order to celebrate the Christmas season with her family. It remains to be seen if Joe will also travel to the U.K. to spend some time with the girls on the actual holiday; however, the two are due back in court on January 2 to create a permanent custody agreement going forward.

Shortly after the news broke, the couple released a short statement praising the “productive and successful” meditation session and vowed to spend equal time “loving” their two children.

Shortly after reaching their agreement, Joe, 45, and Sophie, 27, released a short statement on Tuesday announcing that they are “looking forward” to being “great co-parents” for their two daughters.

"After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the U.S. and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents," the former couple said in a statement.

The mediation came after Sophie sued her estranged husband for wrongful retention, alleging that the singer was withholding the passports of their two daughters and preventing them from returning to the U.K. The complaint requested the “immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.”

Joe released his own statement following her filing, asserting that he is "seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father and is, of course, also okay with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the U.K.," but also alleges that the children "have spent the vast majority of their lives in the U.S."

“This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like 'abduction' is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst,” the statement added. “The children were not abducted.”
