The woman who accused Paul Haggis of rape wants the court to sanction the Oscar winner over what she says is "a frivolous and harassing lawsuit."
As The Blast first reported, Haggis sued a woman named Haleigh Breest after he claimed she tried to shake him down for money for an alleged sexual assault that he said never happened. She later filed a lawsuit of her own, accusing him of rape.
In new court documents obtained by The Blast, Breest not only wants Haggis' lawsuit dismissed, she wants him sanctioned as well. Breest's lawyers describe Haggis' claim as "a rapist's attempt to silence and intimidate his victim."
Breest's lawyers believe Haggis is trying to sue her over "a routine settlement discussion among lawyers" and they claim settlement discussion are not an actionable offense.
A judge has yet to rule and both cases remain ongoing.
