One of the founding members of the legendary metal band, Pantera, has died.
The band just announced the news on their Facebook page that 54-year-old Vinnie Paul was dead, and did not offer an explanation to his sudden passing.
"Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away," Pantera wrote. They added, "No further details are available at this time. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time."
Paul formed Pantera with his brother, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbot, in Arlington, Texas back in 1981. In 2004, Darrell was killed on stage after a deranged man shot him in the head while performing with his other band, Damageplan, in Columbus, Ohio.
Pantera rocked together for 13 years and ended up quietly breaking up in 2003. Afterwards, Vinnie Paul joined up with a supergroup called Hellyeah.
Paul was also working on getting a cookbook published: "Drumming up an Appetite with Vinnie Paul."
