Oprah knows a good investment when she sees it, which is why she’s matching George and Amal Clooney‘s pledge for half a million bucks to the young generation of students who plan on marching to end gun violence.
The talk show maven just made the announcement, saying “These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.” She’s planning on donating the same amount as the Clooneys for the Washington DC demonstration, which is scheduled for March 24.
As we previously reported, George and Amal said they are not only donating, but joining the students to march in the names of their children, Ella and Alexander.
The Clooneys have evidently started a Hollywood movement, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw will also be donating $500,000 and said they were inspired by the students for “demonstrating their leadership with a confidence and maturity that belies their ages.”
George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.
