Netflix canceled a “13 Reasons Why” event following Friday’s Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas that left 10 dead and another 10 injured.
A big plotline in the second season is centered around a thwarted school shooting. It seems the cast was supposed to appear in Los Angeles for a screening of the new season, which dropped last night.
“Our hearts are with the victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting, and with all victims of gun violence. In light of today’s tragedy, we are canceling the 13 Reasons Why S2 premiere event tonight,” Netflix said in a statement.
Dimitrios Pagourtzis is the 17-year-old suspect who opened fire on classmates, killing nine students and one teacher. He is currently being held without bail and is accused of capital murder of multiple people and aggravated assault on a public servant.
Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay Jensen in the show, took to Twitter showing his devastation following the shooting tragedy.
i am devastated by yet another senseless tragedy. my heart is with you, Santa Fe.
