Morgan Freeman Calls Out ‘Gender Specific’ SAG Statue

Morgan Freeman accepted the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards tonight and, like many celebrities of late, he used his time at the podium to take a stand.

The Shawshank actor decided to point out the obvious … the award, known as The Actor, is of a man.

“I’m going to tell you what’s wrong with this statue,” Freeman said from the stage. “It works from the back but from the front, it’s gender specific.”

The comment was met with an explosion of applause from the actors in the audience.

The SAG Awards already put women at the forefront of the telecast this evening with all-female presenters and their first ever host, actress Kristen Bell.
