Meek Mill says the judge in his case is so desperate to talk to the media that she found a loophole by using an attorney to float statements she knew would get her in trouble if she made herself, and Meek wants her kicked off the case for poor conduct.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Meek's legal team says Judge Genece Brinkley's conduct should disqualify her from presiding over the rapper's drug and weapons case.
They argue that Judge Brinkley "retained a lawyer to make public statements on her behalf concerning her intended future judicial action in a pending case, which Judge Brinkley would be forbidden to do herself personally."
Meek's team is pointing out specific comments Brinkley's attorney made to media outlets suggesting she would not be siding with the prosecutor's suggestion to toss the criminal case. They say the comments and action by Judge Brinkley and her attorney are "particularly troubling."
Additionally the "All Eyes On You" star's legal team claims Judge Brinkley "has also interjected herself into the routine matter of bail supervision, including on day-to-day notice to the judge of [Meek's] plans and whereabouts." They claim this move by the judge is not routine, and believe Meek is being treated differently from all other similarly-situated defendants.
Meek wants his case assigned to another judge stat because Judge Brinkley has refused to recuse herself.
Well, now we know what Meek was wishing for when he blew out the candles on his birthday cake.
