McKayla Maroney wants the complete employment file regarding disgraced Team U.S.A. doctor, Larry Nassar, and is fighting the USOC to get the information.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, the Olympic gold medalist recently fired off multiple subpoenas, demanding several people, including the Olympic committee, turn over documents and sit for a deposition in her negligence lawsuit.
The former gymnast wants information that is currently located at the Karolyi Ranch (USA Gymnastic National Training Center) in Huntsville, TX. Specifically, she wants the employment file of Larry Nassar, who is currently thankfully serving more than 175 years in prison.
Maroney wants answers regarding USOC’s sources of income, along with any documentation and communication concerning Nassar and parents that may have had concerns with the doctor's treatment methods over the years.
Among the officials she wants to sit for a deposition, the 22-year-old star wants to grill Steve Penny, former CEO of USA Gymnastics, former President of USA Gymnastics Kathy Scanlan, coach Doug Bouger, USOC sports physician Dr. David Kruse, USA Gymnastics Dr. George Drew and USOC's longtime chief security officer Larry Buendorf, Ex-VP of marketing Lee Johnson.
The U.S. Olympic Committee wants the court shut down Maroney’s attempt to get the documents and information, claiming she is jumping the gun and serving subpoenas way too soon in the case. USOC says Maroney's request is, “in violation of the rules and without obtaining either the required stipulation or prior court order."
The committee is fighting back, and now wants Maroney’s lawyers be sanctioned for their discovery demands and also wants them to be on the hook for the $6,920 in attorney fees.
