The infamous “Pharma Bro” just got slapped with 7 years in prison for multiple federal securities fraud charges.

Martin Shkreli was sentenced Friday in Brooklyn’s U.S. District Court for misleading investors about details and financial performance for two hedge funds that he managed.  In addition to prison, he has been ordered to pay over $7 million to the federal government in restitution.

While crying in open court, Shkreli proclaimed, “I want the people who came here today to support me to understand one thing, the only person to blame for me being here today is me.”

He reportedly plans to appeal the sentencing decision.  Shkreli became widely accepted as an evil villain after he raised the price of a life-saving drug used to treat HIV. He also went viral after he purchased a Wu-Tang Clan album for $2 million and then used it as a coaster.

One thing’s for sure, he better hope there aren’t many Wu-Tang Clan fans in the joint.
