The secluded area where Mark Salling committed suicide may have been specifically chosen as a place of refuge for the actor, because he once praised the tranquility of the same location three years ago.
Salling's body was found hanging Tuesday morning near a creek in the mountains of Tujunga, close to his home in Sunland. The area Salling was found, which was taped off by officials, looked to be identical to a photo the late-actor took in 2015. He was standing on a very large rock with arms outstretched, and captioned the pic "Lunch on the river."
The Blast did some analysis, and the large rocks in the 2015 photo appear to be the same rocks -- considering time and weather -- at the scene of the ex "Glee" actor's untimely death.
As we previously reported, Salling's family told cops he was "depressed and suicidal" and filed a missing persons report early Tuesday morning. LAPD went searching for Salling, and eventually ended up finding his body near the creek.
After learning of his death, Salling's family told us he was "doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment." The actor ended his life as he was awaiting sentencing in connection with his guilty plea for possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.
Even though officials are certain he committed suicide, Salling's body will still undergo an autopsy this week.
