UPDATE
12:05 PM PT -- LAPD tells us they have been investigating the audio and believe it is not their officers on the tape for several reasons. We're told LAPD broadcasts on a digital frequency, and the audio in question appears to be analog.
We're told digital frequencies cannot be intercepted on a 2-way radio, which is what they believe happened, and police also point out that the speech used in the audio is not typical police vernacular.
Even though police are fairly certain it's not their officers on the audio, they have not completely ruled it out, and therefore are continuing to investigate the situation ... contrary to erroneous reports that it was never investigated.
LAPD wants to make very it clear they don't take these accusations lightly and will continue to investigate to determine the source of the audio.
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently trying to get to the bottom of an audio clip that alleges officers were making disgusting comments about Nipsey Hussle's parents during the slain rapper's memorial.
The audio clip made the rounds Friday morning and appears to feature dispatch audio between multiple people during Hussle's memorial service. The audio alleges that LAPD officers are having the conversation, and majorly disrespecting Hussle's mother and father.
The Game is one of the celebrities sharing the footage, and admits he is unsure on the legitimacy. However, he does say, "This shit is disgusting & the voices in this video if they are in fact police officers should be recognized by other officers & they should be brought to the light."
The Blast reached out to LAPD, and we are told officials are aware of the audio and are trying to find out the source and legitimacy.
We will update accordingly.
