Kim Kardashian did exactly what she said she would do, and has enlisted her high-powered legal team to find a way to free two women who are currently imprisoned with lengthy sentences, including Cyntoia Brown, a sex trafficking victim convicted of murder whose story went viral this week.
Cyntoia Brown is a 29-year-old woman from Tennessee who was arrested and tried for murder as an adult at 16-years-old after she shot and killed a 43-year-old man that was using her as a sex slave. She was sentenced to 60 years, with 51 served before the possibility of parole.
Alice Johnson is a 62-year-old grandmother currently serving 21 years of a life sentence for a first time, non-violent drug offense.
Kim vowed on social media that she would have her people check in on how they can help. That is exactly what she has done. We are told that Kim has quietly been doing this for quite some time, she contacted her attorney over a month ago to help on Alice's case and the legal work on that case has been going on since.
Kardashian's attorney, Shawn Holley, tells The Blast that Kim, "asked me to help her find a way to help these women. We have already contacted Alice Johnson and her team of lawyers who are now actively trying to find ways to facilitate her release."
Holley also has a conference call scheduled Friday to begin discussions regarding the release of Cyntoia Brown. The plan to get her out hasn't been hammered out yet, but having one of the best criminal defense attorneys in the world on the team is a good start.
Brown's case went viral last week, with celebrities like Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, and Cara Delevigne spreading awareness of the alleged injustice.
Kardashian shared the story, and said she called her attorneys to help ... and help is now on the way.
The system has failed. It’s heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life! We have to do better & do what’s right. I’ve called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown pic.twitter.com/73y26mLp7u

If anyone can get Brown and Johnson out from behind bars, it's Shawn Holley. Not only does she have an impeccable record in criminal defense, she was also part of Johnnie Cochran's famed legal team that represented O.J. Simpson, revered among lawyers as "The Dream Team."
Kim has been a true champion for victims of injustice, we are told she also had her legal team reach out to help free Wilbert Jones, a black man in Louisiana whose conviction for rape in 1971 was overturned after spending 45 years behind bars. Jones is now a free man.
Now that's something to be thankful for this holiday season.
