Director Kevin Smith is recovering after suffering a "massive heart attack" on Sunday night.
The "Clerks" director tweeted a photo of himself early Monday morning, dressed in what appeared to be a hospital gown with tubes attached to him.
He captioned the pic, "After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka 'the Widow-Maker')."
Smith continued, "If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!"
Smith was scheduled to perform two shows at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on Sunday night. He promoted the shows on Facebook just hours before, writing, "Tonight I shoot my new standup special! Many thanks to the good folks at @comedydynamics for making it all happen - especially with this killer backdrop! And thanks in advance to the audiences showing up to both shows in #glendale tonight! Your pity laughter will be like sponges to my flop sweat!"
