Jussie Smollett tried to keep a low profile and avoid being seen as he made a rare appearance in public on Thursday night in Chicago.

Smollett was seen entering Eddie V's Prime Seafood with his brother Jake, an unidentified woman and his security. The restaurant is located about a half a mile from his apartment but we're told Smollett is staying at a nearby hotel to avoid any media frenzy.

As the "Empire" star entered the restaurant, his bodyguard (the same guy who led him out of jail last month) can be seen in the background. When Smollett left, he entered the same SUV he rode in when he was released from jail on February 21.

Jussie Smollett’s family has been very supportive of the star since the incident happened, and lashed out at the media in particular. “Birds of Prey” star Jurnee Smollett even quoted Malcolm X in accusing the media of making the “victim look like the criminal.”

Following his arrest, "Empire" producers announced Smollett would take a break from the show, saying, "While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season."

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson went on "Good Morning America" this week and said "there’s a lot more evidence" against Smollett that has yet to be revealed.

Smollett was arrested on February 21 on charges of filing a false police report.
