Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced on Instagram on Thursday morning that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer,” the “Veep” star wrote. “Today, I’m the one.”
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union,” she continued. “The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
Earlier this month, Louis-Dreyfus won her sixth Emmy for playing Selina Meyer on the hit HBO comedy, which is a record for a performer playing one character in a series.
She and her husband Brad Hall have been married for 20 years and have two children together.
