John Mahoney – best known for playing Frasier and Niles Crane's dad on "Frasier" – passed away on Sunday. He was 77.
A rep for the actor tells The Blast that he passed away in Chicago "after a short illness."
Mahoney was nominated for two Golden Globes and two Emmys for his role as Martin Crane. He appeared on the show throughout its run from 1993 to 2004.
After "Frasier," he appeared on the second season of the HBO show "In Treatment," playing a CEO plagued by anxiety attacks.
