Jay Thomas, known for starring roles on “Cheers,” and “Murphy Brown,” died at home with his family by his side.
Thomas’ agent, Don Buchwald, said, “Jay was one of a kind, never at a loss for words and filled with so much fun and wonderfully whacky thoughts and behavior.”
Buchwald said Thomas’ wife and two sons were with him at his home in Santa Barbara when he passed.
The 69-year-old was best known for his roles as Jerry Gold on “Murphy Brown,” and Eddie LeBec on “Cheers.” He also appeared on “Ray Donovan,” as the slimy head of a celebrity news site.
Thomas recently gained a new following hosting a SiriusXM radio show on one of the network’s Howard Stern channels.
