Jada Pinkett Smith bravely revealed that she’s suffering from hair loss as a result of alopecia, and now the leading organization on the disease wants the actress to help serve as a role model and pillar of strength for others.
A spokesperson from the National Alopecia Areata Foundation tells The Blast they have been trying to get in contact with Jada’s team ever since the actress revealed her battle with hair loss on her Facebook show, “Red Table Talk.” The star admitted her recent obsession with turbans was to help mask the issue.
Jada did not specify whether she has alopecia areata, which is an auto-immune disease that results in hair loss, but NAAF tells us her description sounds like it fits the bill.
One of the NAAF’s biggest goals is spreading awareness, and we’re told they believe Jada could give the disease a platform like it’s never had. They believe the former “Gotham” star could be an inspirational speaker at conferences, as well as assist in raising funds for research.
It’s unclear if Jada will agree to work with the organization, but sharing her situation with the world may be a hint she wants to play a bigger role in the public discussion.
