French Montana is accused of jacking a music producer's track and using it to create a hit song that was included in the soundtrack for a popular WWE video game, and now the producer is pinning the rapper down for a big payday.
Moroccan music producer Yo Asel says in 2014 he created a track titled, "Sleep85," and shared it with French Montana after reaching out over email.
Yo Asel says Montana is a huge role model in the Moroccan hip-hop community, and thought he could team up with the rapper.
Asel claims Montana liked the song, and told him to "Send more," but then in early 2016 he was made aware that Montana had recorded the song "Lockjaw" with Kodak Black ... and it included a modified version of the beat Asel had already shared.
The song became a huge hit, and is also featured as an in-game song for the wrestling game, WWE 2K17.
Asel says he reached out to confront Montana, but never got a response. He also claims he's been blocked on Montana's social media.
He's suing for unspecified damages and an injunction prohibiting Montana from continuing to profit off the song.
A steel chair to the face may suffice too.
