Jason James Richter may need to befriend another whale, because the former child actor has found himself mimicking his role in "Free Willy" by getting in trouble with the law.
Richter, who played Jesse in the main "Willy" movies, was arrested Monday in the San Fernando Valley on suspicion of domestic violence. He spent two nights in jail and was released on $20,000 bail.
According to the L.A. City Attorney, Richter was charged with battery on a significant other that does not cause injury and vandalism, both misdemeanors.
His trial is set to begin next month and the actor faces a maximum sentence of a year in jail.
Richter left the "Free Willy" franchise after 1997's, "Free Willy 3: The Rescue," but has kept busy with over 8 projects this year alone.
