There is *a lot* to unpack here.
Terry Bryant was arrested this week for allegedly stealing Frances McDormand’s Oscar statue (FYI he was still in custody at the time of this post). According to his social media profiles, his life appears to be a rich tapestry of celebrities, award shows and honors, like being named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador of Peace. Well … not so fast.
For starters, The Blast can confirm that the part about the U.N. just isn’t true.
Here are pics of Bryant receiving the Golden Rule Goodwill Peace Ambassador Award from a Los Angeles based organization called The Interfaith Peace-Building Initiative — which he claims in several social media posts is part of the U.N. It’s not.
The IPI tells The Blast that they are in no way coming from the United Nations, so the “explanation in his caption was incorrect.” However, it should be noted that he did actually win this award.
“Terry Bryant received an award from us for his work in helping the homeless on Skid Row for several years. Treating the down and out with kindness,” said IPI’s Global Director.
Well, who among us hasn’t embellished our resumés a bit?
