DMX may be in jail, but that isn’t stopping the rapper from making moves in his career.
X’s attorney, Murray Richman, tells The Blast that even though DMX is still behind bars at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York while awaiting transfer to FCI Danbury, he’s been working on new music and fielding a ton of offers — everything from book deals to movies about his life.
Richma says X “looks great, is very happy, and overall, is doing remarkably well.”
As we reported, X was sentenced to one year in prison back in March for tax fraud. He requested to serve the remainder of his term in FCI Danbury — aka the “Orange is the New Black” prison — to be closer to home and take advantage of the treatment programs offered.
Once he’s there, he’ll have to squeeze in his music-making sessions and movie deals between his 6 a.m. wake-up call and his required job, which usually starts with a food service, unit orderly or maintenance shop position.
To top it off, X’s lawyer has received more than 600 fan mail letters for his client since the sentencing just a few weeks ago. He says people from all over the world (we’re talking France and Czechoslovakia, here) are sending the rap legend notes, pictures, and drawings, just to name a few things. For now, X can only hear about them since the items are considered contraband in prison.
Guess he’ll have a lot of reading to do when he gets out — you know, after he cashes in on his music and movie deals.
