Demi Lovato's overdose is not her backup dancer's fault, so says the family of Dani Vitale, her friend of nearly 10 years.
The Blast spoke to a family member who tells us Vitale does not do hardcore drugs and is not the person to blame for Lovato's alleged overdose. They are shocked fans are pointing the finger at the 28-year-old dancer, and want to make it clear she's "far from a druggie."
The family member added that Demi does what she wants, and she made the decision on her own to party that night.
Many outlets reported on Thursday that the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer had been out celebrating Vitale's birthday the night before she was transported to the hospital for a medical emergency. Since then, Lovatics have been targeting her close friend and backup dancer, even making death threats.
But close family members are adamant that Vitale is a "health nut" who is not a supplier of hardcore drugs.
We're told that since the incident, the backup dancer has been laying low and not returning calls to even those closest to her, and is planning on getting out of L.A. next week for a scheduled trip.
