Cynthia Nixon is not just one of those celebrities preaching about political change from her dressing room ... she's actually running for office.
The former "Sex and the City" star just announced her bid to become the governor of New York, and she's not only serious, she's extremely well informed. Her campaign page states that Nixon is a "Lifelong New Yorker and progressive activist who is running for governor to fight for a better, more equal New York."
Her team touts that "Cynthia hasn't been bought and paid for by special interests and won't be accepting any corporate contributions in this campaign," and that "Our campaign will be powered by the people."
Nixon already has a professional campaign commercial, and showcases the star as a down to earth mother who is ready to fight for the rights of the people.
She'll be facing off against current Governor Andrew Cuomo in the November election as he seeks a third term.
