10:45 PM PT: Dana White says three of Khabib’s entourage members have been arrested, although it’s unclear which ones and exactly what the charges are. Witnesses at the event captured video of what appears to be at least one of the men being put in handcuffs by Las Vegas cops.
Dana also said there will be an investigation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and the UFC is providing video immediately. He says Khabib risks a suspension or worse, and the entourage members who were arrested are at risk for having their Visas revoked.
White also said Conor has been paid for the fight but he’s holding on to Khabib’s check until everything gets sorted out.
10:10 PM PT: Dana White just refused to put the championship belt on Khabib in the ring out of fear for his safety and worries about the crowd turning violent on the fighter.
Both fighters delivered a strong performance, and traded crushing blows as the fight went into the final round. The fight was also filled with several verbal jabs and profanities delivered by both men throughout the match.
Much of the fight was controlled by Khabib, as he took McGregor to the ground and maintained dominance several times. In the fourth and final round, he locked a rear-naked choke around Conor and the Irishman tapped out.
Immediately after the fight, Khabib jumped the Octagon into the crowd and began fighting while his entourage brawled with Conor in the ring. Conor did not appear to be an aggressor in the mayhem but took a huge punch from one of Khabib’s teammates.
Joe Rogan was disgusted by the display afterwards by Khabib, and said it brought shame to his victory. Dana White also appeared furious.
Khabib and Conor each talked an extreme amount of smack in the days leading up to the fight, especially after McGregor’s arrest in April for melting down backstage during the UFC press conference in NYC.
Khabib had not backed down from Conor’s intimidating demeanor, and even vowed to fight him the street if, that’s what The Notorious wanted.
For all his posturing, McGregor had not taken the fight with Khabib lightly, and even put aside all his other legal cases in order to focus on his training and preparation.
