'To Catch a Predator' Host Chris Hansen Busted for Bouncing Checks

By TheBlast Staff

Chris Hansen — best known for hosting the NBC show "To Catch a Predator" — turned himself into police on Monday after he was accused of writing a bad check.

Hansen allegedly bounced a check in September 2017 for $12,998.05 to a local vendor for marketing items — mugs, t-shirts, and decals — that he had ordered. The vendor filed a complaint with police last April because the bill was still unpaid.

According to the Stamford Advocate, an investigator contacted Hansen and said they "understood that he may have trouble, but that nearly $13,000 is a lot of money to a ‘mom-and-pop’ business and it is not fair that he accepted the material but hasn’t paid for it."

Hansen allegedly told the vendor he "sold a boat" to try and raise the money but never sent a follow-up payment after the first check bounced.

He was charged with issuing a bad check and subsequently released after signing a written promise to appear in court.
