Charlotte Rae — best known for playing the role of house mother Mrs. Garrett on "The Facts of Life" — passed away on Sunday. She was 92.
Rae's death comes one year after announcing she had been diagnosed with bone cancer. It also comes just days after it was announced that a reboot of the popular series was in the works from producers Leo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel.
Rae's iconic character started off on the hit 80s show "Diff’rent Strokes" before being spun off to its own series. "The Facts of Life" — a sitcom about the girls at a boarding school and their house mother — ran from 1979 to 1988.
Rae left the show for health reasons and Cloris Leachman stepped in (playing Mrs. Garrett's sister) but the show was canceled two years later.
