Police announced on Wednesday the arrest of Benjamin Eitan Ackerman in connection with the burglaries of at least 13 homes. Ackerman was taken into custody on September 20 and is currently being held on $1 million bail.
Authorities recovered over 2,000 stolen items, including art, clothes, purses, jewelry, and wine. The items were recovered from Ackerman’s home and a storage unit and it is believed the stolen goods totaled millions of dollars.
LAPD Capt. Cory Palka said at a press conference, “Ackerman targeted high-end celebrity homes that were for sale or were being shown during open house appointments.”
Police believe Ackerman would pose as an interested buyer or a real estate broker looking to show the property.
