Zombie Boy, the tattooed model who died from head trauma after a fall from a third-floor balcony, had his death ruled accidental.

The news was made public by the coroner in Quebec, Melissa Gagnon, who investigated the death of the 32-year-old Montreal artist.

In her report, Gagnon noted that Zombie Boy, aka Rick Genest, "was heavily intoxicated by alcohol, with a rate of 234 mg / dL, almost three times the legal limit for driving. The presence of cannabis was also detected in his blood."

Zombie Boy was at a relative's home on August 1, 2018, and a passerby found him bloody and unresponsive on the sidewalk, leading officials to believe he fell from the balcony above.

There was a theory that the model took his own life, but the coroner disputes that theory.

"Mr. Genest was happy. He was very motivated by his many artistic projects, he was well surrounded and he had just become engaged," Gagnon noted.

The report also explains that Zombie Boy had sought mental health treatment before, and family said that sometimes he "heard voices," but upon his death he did not "seem to be in a state of psychosis or delirium."

She added, "For the coroner, the investigation does not reveal a clear and unequivocal intention to end his life."

The investigation revealed surveillance footage that showed Zombie Boy walked out alone onto the balcony to smoke a cigarette, and they believe he fell over the railing.

His death was officially ruled accidental.
