Willie Nelson abruptly walked off stage at the start of a performance on Saturday before playing a single tune.
Nelson was scheduled to perform at Charlotte's PNC Music Pavilion as part of his 2018 Outlaw Music Festival. The legendary singer walked on stage and started to put his guitar on, before thinking better of it. He then tossed his hat to the crowd as he walked off stage.
The sudden change of heart was never explained to the audience, but Live Nation issued a press release later in the evening saying, "Due to illness, Willie Nelson was unable to play tonight at the Outlaw Music Festival at PNC Music Pavilion Charlotte. Fans are asked to please hold on to their tickets until the new date is announced."
A rep for Nelson told The Music Universe that he was battling a stomach bug and will make up the performance at a later date.
Nelson is scheduled to perform on Sunday night in Washington, DC with Sturgill Simpson. The rep says Nelson will be there as planned.
