The Weinstein Company Still Owes Director David Frankel $2 Million

By TheBlast Staff

The Weinstein Company may have filed for bankruptcy, but they are still on the hook for $2 million to a big Hollywood director.

According to the documents, the law firm of Lavely & Singer are owed $2 million to one of their client accounts. Sources familiar with the situation tell The Blast the client in question is actually director David Frankel.

Frankel, famous for movies like "Miami Rhapsody" and "The Devil Wears Prada," filed suit against TWC in 2016 over his movie, "One Chance" starring James Corden. In the suit, Frankel claimed TWC had agreed to release the movie wide or pay $5 million in damages ... but then only released it on 43 screens.

In February, it was reported TWC had agreed to pay Frankel $2 million to settle the distribution dispute, but unfortunately the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke before the director got his money.

Good news for Frankel though ... since he's owed so much money, he'll at least get paid before Malia Obama sees any money.
