Vanessa Bryant Honors Daughter Gigi's 14th Birthday By Asking Fans To Wear Red

Vanessa Bryant is choosing to celebrate her daughter Gianna on what would have been her 14th birthday. The 37-year-old took to Instagram to drop a heartbreaking message to her late teenager, who passed away just three months ago, and asked her followers to wear Gigi's favorite color in honor of her special day. Sharing a photo of Gigi showing her smiling sweetly while wearing Minnie Mouse ears and a Disney-themed shirt, Kobe Bryant's widow began her gutwrenching message by writing, "Happy 14th Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Gianna. Mommy loves you more than I can ever show you."

Gigi Passed Away at 13:

"You are part of MY SOUL forever. I miss you so much everyday. I wish I could wake up and have you here with me," Vanessa continued. "I miss your smile, your hugs and your giggles. I miss EVERYTHING about YOU, Gigi. I LOVE YOU so much!!!!!!!" The star shared a separate post wearing a red bracelet in honor of her daughter. She also showed several birthday balloons in the background of another photo. "Gianna loved to wear a red bow in all of her school pictures. Red means love and life," she captioned the snaps.

Asking her follower "to commemorate Gigi’s birthday today, please consider wearing red," she also added, "caption an act of kindness or show how you will play Gigi’s way since she always gave everything she did her all and led with kindness. Please use the hashtag #PlayGigisWay ❤️Thank you." Gigi unexpectedly passed away alongside her father on January 26 when the helicopter they were riding in crashed. Seven others were on board. There were no survivors. Since their deaths, Gigi's birthday isn't the only monumental day Vanessa has celebrated without her daughter or husband.

Last month, Vanessa honored her late NBA legend husband with a post on what would have been their 19th wedding anniversary. Dedicating a message to commemorate the bittersweet milestone, she posted a sweet throwback of the duo showing herself sitting on Kobe's lap while he kissed her cheek. “My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding anniversary baby,” she wrote. “My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding anniversary baby,” she added. Vanessa isn't the only honoring the duo following their death. The WNBA recently named Gigi and two of her teammates, who also died in the helicopter crash, honorary draftees.
