The Controversial Tooth Gap:

One of the most discussed clips includes Cycle Six former contestant Dani Evans. In the footage, Tyra Banks is seen telling Evans she will not have a modeling career if she doesn't fix the gap between her two front teeth. She even appeared to shame the model over her appearance by making fun of her gap. “So, Danielle, you went to the dentist but you refused to have your gap closed,” Tyra Banks said in the video. “Do you really think you can have a CoverGirl contract with a gap in your mouth?”

Tyra's Response:

When Evans' responded, "Yes, why not?”, Tyra pointed to her two front teeth and stated, "This is all people see. It’s easy, breezy, beautiful CoverGirl. It’s not marketable.” This left people outraged with many saying the former runway walker should be ashamed of her behavior. When addressing the "ANTM" controversy, Tyra Banks admitted she was wrong. “Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you,” she told her followers on Friday, April 8. “Looking back, those were some really off choices." Stating that she appreciates everyone's "honest feedback," she tried deflecting by adding she was "sending so much love and virtual hugs.”

Danielle Evans' Speaks Out:

Danielle Evans' spoke out about the teeth incident too. She ended up getting her gap partially closed and was crowned the winner of "ANTM" that season. Addressing the reasoning behind her decision, the model stated, "Nothing or no one was going to stand in my way. And it wasn’t about copping out, it was about understanding what really carries weight and holds value in my life — and teeth wasn’t one of them." Other controversial moments from the show included forcing a model to pose in a coffin after her friend died and putting some of the girls in blackface for a “biracial-themed” photo shoot.
