It’s been 28 years since John Connor battled the T-1000 to hopefully fulfill his destiny as the leader of the human resistance, and now he’s back!
Producer James Cameron announced the news Thursday at Comic-Con in San Diego during a video that played before the panel for “Terminator: Dark Fate.”
While describing the rest of the cast, Cameron slipped in the reveal.
“You’ve got [director] Tim Miller fresh off of ‘Deadpool,’” Cameron explained.
He continued, “Me coming back to the franchise almost three decades later, coming up with crazy new stuff you’ve never seen before. One thing we kept circling around, ‘Do we want to bring Sarah back?”
Cameron said, “There is no Sarah but Linda, so how to do we talk Linda into being in this movie? We asked Linda to come back and thankfully she agreed and we built the story about that. Eddie Furlong is back as John.”
“Terminator: Dark Fate” is being considered the next movie in the timeline after the original 1986 “Terminator” and 1991 “Terminator II: Judgement Day.”
Even though there have been other actors, such as Nick Stahl, playing John Connor in other movies in the franchise, Cameron said the other films are considered to take place in alternate timelines.
A new BTS video and trailer was also revealed to the crowd, highlighting some of the new cybernetic soldiers that will be trying to destroy the human race.
“Terminator: Dark Fate” premieres November 1.
