Taylor Swift has been in a long battle with record executive Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, founder of record label Big Machine, which now owns a lot of Swift's older music.

The battle has heated up even more recently. On Nov. 14, Swift said Borchetta and Braun have prevented Swift from performing a medley of her songs at the 2019 American Music Awards.

Swift released a statement, which reads in part:

"On October 28, 2019, at 5:17 p.m., the Vice President, Rights Management and Business Affairs from Big Machine Label Group sent Taylor Swift’s team the following:

Please be advised that BMLG will not agree to issue licenses for existing recordings or waiver of its re-recording restrictions in connection with these two projects: The Netflix documentary and The Alibaba ‘Double Eleven’ event."

Bieber Appears To Support Swift

Singer Justin Bieber posted this text on a large black background on his Instagram Stories.

Fans took offense with his statement, since he posted it right after Swift put out her statement explaining her side of the story in the Scooter Braun, Big Machine debacle.

So as fans see it, Bieber was being underhanded and cryptic with his message, which appears supportive at first glance.

Said one fan,

“How long until Scooter’s clients defend him publicly? Last time Justin posted an “apologize” to Taylor, and by the end of his post, he was blaming her for not remaining silent. Demi [Lovato] also defended Scooter. I fear Taylor won’t find much support from his clients.”

Swifties Look To Beliebers

“ik i’m gonna get laughed at for this but any justin mutuals if you believe taylor should be able to perform her own music that SHE WROTE pls tweet #BeliebersStandWithTaylor,” said one fan.

Fans also made sure to let others know about the perceived control Braun has over others working with him.

“I’m not surprised that any of Scooter’s female clients have not spoken out, only Justin Bieber weighed in on the situation although he sided with his manager," said another on social media.

Others Standing Up For Swift

Besides her legion of fans, Swift has been getting a lot of support from celebrities and fellow musicians.

Gigi Hadid had this to say:

“Scott and Scooter, you know what the right thing to do is. Taylor and her fans deserve to celebrate the music!!”

Singer Selena Gomez spoke out in support of Swift, saying her “heart is so heavy right now." As to Braun's and Scott's efforts, she said it was “greed, manipulation and power.”

Halsey: 'Turns My Guts'

Halsey also spoke out with a much more visceral response.

She said the move “turns my guts that no matter how much power or success a woman has in this life, you are still susceptible to someone coming along and making you feel powerless out of spite.”
