The 'Spider-Man' franchise will no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The surprising news became public on Tuesday after Marvel Studios announced it was cutting ties with the Sony Pictures' franchise.

The dispute, as always, came down to money. And in the end, the ones who really get hurt are the fans.

The news means that Spider-Man will no longer be seen in any of the Marvel Universe films. Some had speculated that Peter Parker would eventually take over Tony Stark's (aka Iron Man) position, but that is no longer possible.

But perhaps the biggest disappointment is that we won't be getting the Spider-Man/Deadpool film fans have hoped for forever. The two characters teamed up in a 50 issue comic book series, but won't be together on the big screen.
