According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Dawson appears to have scored a victory with prosecutors dropping the case entirely. South Carolina prosecutors have filed a Nolle Prosequi in Dawon’s criminal case, meaning they are no longer pursuing charges against her.
The criminal case was officially closed on January 31. Dawson was facing 5 years behind bars after being falsely accusing Dennis of burglaryProsecutors originally charged 33-year-old Dawson with a felony charge of filing a false police report.
The charge stemmed from a September 27 incident, where Dawson called the police to report Dennis was breaking into her home. Officers quickly responded to the home where the alleged burglary was in process.
Dawson told officers Dennis was as a “former friends” at the scene. She claimed Dennis was with another man in a red shirt and driving in a black Honda SUV
She told police she watched Dennis go in and out of her home with her property. She said her home had signs of forced entry on her porch door.
However, officers did not see any evidence of a forced entry or anybody inside the home. The report read, “There was what appeared to be pre-existing damage to the framing on the lower part of the door. The exposed wood looked aged and roughly in the same condition to the rest of the framing.”
Police called Dennis’ lawyer who told them the reality star was in his office the entire morning, including the time of the alleged burglary.
Lara Dawson was then arrested and charged for filing a false police report. Dawson was released the following day.
At one point, Dawson was involved in Dennis’ custody battle with Thomas Ravenel. Dawson was Ravenel’s ex-girlfriend, Ashley Jacobs, former roommate. She provided a declaration explaining she tried to mediate the issues with Dennis and Ravenel.
Dennis and Ravenel were recently spotted getting close amid rumors of a reconciliation.
