Soulja Boy is being sued by a Las Vegas chauffeur who claims the rapper filmed the driver without permission and used it in a music video.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Kamilah Daily claims the rapper hired a transportation company in February 2017. Daily was to be the chauffeur for Soulja, his director, and manager around Las Vegas.
During the course of the ride, Soulja allegedly videotaped Daily without Daily giving consent or authorization to use the footage, which ended up in the video for Soulja's song, "Bling." Daily can be seen in the video below at the :50 mark.
Daily sued seeking unspecified damages for the disruption it caused to Daily's employment, along with the substantial distress and mental anguish caused by the video. Daily also sought an injunction against Soulja from continuing to distribute the footage.
Daily tells The Blast, "I am a private person, so I have kept quiet about this whole legal matter with Soulja Boy. This video has circulated throughout social media outlets and was requested to be taken down. The video originally was taken down off one of his YouTube accounts but keeps being reposted over and over again. I have driven A-list celebrities and their families and I never had to go through anything like this with them or had problems."
Soulja Boy attempted to have the case dismissed, but the judge denied his motion earlier this month. In the order, the judge agrees that Soulja Boy used Daily's image without written permission and is allowing the case to go forward.
Soulja might have a tough time fighting the case. In a recent filing, his lawyers have asked to be dropped from the case. The lawyers say due to a breakdown in communications with him and his team, they have difficulty providing adequate legal representation.
The firm claims they have not received any payment for its attorney fees and warned him if he didn’t pay up, they would drop him.
The case is ongoing.
