The visual effects crew working on “Sonic the Hedgehog” had to take a serious restart on their take on the titular character and now the movie has been officially pushed back by 3-months.
Director Jeff Fowler announced Friday that they would be, “Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right,” alongside a picture of a new release date of February 14, 2020.
Fans were excited for Carrey’s whacky performance, but universally rejected Sonic’s appearance as extremely disturbing.
With a weird mix of human-like features, especially in the teeth, movie execs quickly apologized and vowed to make the Sega game legend much better.
Fowler also joked in a longwinded hashtag that, “No VFX artists were harmed in the making of this movie.”
Definitely a great decision to redo Sonic, however, releasing a video game-themed movie on Valentine’s Day may be another possible pitfall for the little blue hero.
