Snoop Dogg, Questlove, Kate Hudson And More Pay Respects To The Late Bill Withers

Droves of celebrities and musicians paid their respects after they learned the great Bill Withers passed away at the age of 81.

The legendary singer, known for hits like “Lean on Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone,” died Monday from heart complications. His family announced his passing on Friday with a touching statement.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father,” the statement read. “A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other…his music forever belongs to the world. In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones.”

His music influenced countless artists and his song, “Lean on Me" was performed at the inaugurations of Presidents Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama.

Snoop And Questlove Remember Bill


Snoop woke up in the morning and sent out a few simple words while sharing one of his favorite songs.

"We love u bill 🙏🏾🌹💯," Snoop wrote on Instagram while sharing Bill's song, "Lovely Day."

Questlove of The Roots took the news of Bill's passing rather hard and penned a heartfelt tribute.

"This news is super devastating. Just this week alone losing Vaughn Mason, Ellis Marsalis, Manu Dibango, & Wallace Rooney....was painful but Bill Withers man....this guy was my FIRST idol before The Jackson 5ive or Prince. He was our Springsteen...our Everyman. One of the last celebrated blue collar musicians. Man this hurts to hear."

Kate Hudson And Lenny Kravitz Will Miss Him

Kate Hudson revealed that his music really made a lasting impression on her so she thanked him one more time.

"Lovely Day, Ain’t No Sunshine, Use Me and Lean On Me to name a few. Thank you sir for your music. 🙏 🎶💔 #RIP #BillWithers," Hudson said.

Lenny Kraviz expressed just what Withers meant to the world.

"Rest in power Bill Withers. Your voice, songs, and total expression gave us love, hope, and strength. My soul always has & always will be full of your music. Your humility displayed & depth of your power as you carried us all to a better place. You're still & always will be Bill."

Chance the Rapper Weighs In

Bill's music transcended generations and Chance the Rapper paid his final respects on Twitter.

"Aw man, Bill Withers was really the greatest. Grandma’s Hands, Ain’t No Sunshine, Lean on Me, Use Me Up, Just The Two Of Us and obviously Lovely Day are some of the best songs of all time. My heart really hurts for him, it reminds me of playing records with at my grandma’s house," the artist tweeted

RIP, Mr. Withers. We will keep the sunshine now that you've gone, just like you taught us.
