Selena Quintanilla was obviously a musical and cultural icon, but she was also a beauty icon whose style is still sought after by fan’s today, so the late star’s family is giving the people what they want.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, recently filed to trademark the name “Selena Vive” for the purposes of a cosmetics line.
Selena Vive, translated to “Selena Lives,” will feature perfumes, compacts, eye makeup, lipstick, foundations and nail polish.
79-year-old Quintanilla also registered to lock up the name “Selenaville” for cosmetics products. Selenaville is a term fans of the singer have associated with the museum in her hometown of Corpus Christi, TX.
“Selena ¡Vive!” was also a 2005 all-star tribute concert held on the 10th Anniversary of her death and broadcast by Univision.
It’s no surprise Selena’s family is getting behind a cosmetics line, as the late star has already delivered big numbers in the market. In 2016, Selena’s posthumous collaboration with M.A.C., just after the 20th anniversary of her death, became the best-selling celebrity collection in cosmetics history — take that Kylie Jenner.
With names like “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” lip gloss and “Como La Flor” lipstick, fans of Selena have shown they are still incredibly loyal to her brand, even as generations pass.
It’s unclear when the new line of cosmetics will be available for purchase.
