Todd Palin gave himself a very special birthday gift this year -- he filed for divorce!

Sarah Palin's longtime husband filed for divorce in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday after 30 years of marriage.

Todd, who turned 55-years-old on Friday, filed the documents quietly, only listing his and Sarah's initials under the party names.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, who first reported the news, Todd said the split was due to, "incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.”

The Blast

Todd and Sarah originally eloped back in 1988 and had a child a year later. Before her political aspirations, Sarah helped out Todd in his commercial fishing business.

The documents state Todd is requesting joint custody of the couple's special needs son, Trig, who is 11-years-old.

Their other kids; including Bristol, Willow, Piper and Track, are all adults.

Interesting to note, Todd has hired Alaska attorney, Kimberlee Colbo to handle the divorce.

Colbo has history with the Palin family, because she represented Dakota Meyer during his divorce with Bristol Palin.

Bristol and Dakota, who have two children together, wed in 2016 and divorced two years later, and their split was showcased on MTV's "Teen Mom OG."

The split was pretty amicable, although Bristol did have to hand over some real estate.

Todd's attorney is well aware of the public interest the divorce will cause, and has already requested that everything remain confidential going forward.

55-year-old Sarah Palin was elected governor of Alaska in 2006 and stepped down in 2009 during a run for the White House alongside the late John McCain.

Since her political career, Sarah has remained pretty private and instead leans on her books, social media postings and speaking engagements to stay in the public eye.
