Roseanne Barr's break from Twitter did not last long and unleashed a series of tweets to explain the story behind the infamous Valerie Jarrett tweet that led to her hit show "Roseanne" getting the ax.
Barr tweeted on Tuesday night, "guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting -- it was memorial day too -- i went 2 far & do not want it defended -- it was egregious Indefensible. I made a mistake I wish I hadn't but...don't defend it please."
She added, "i'm not a racist, just an idiot who made a bad joke. thank you for defending me tho-."
As The Blast first reported, Barr's son, Jake Pentland, told The Blast that he spoke to his mother and she told him she thought President Barack Obama’s former advisor was white.
Roseanne backed up that thought Tuesday night when she wrote, "i honestly thought she was Jewish and Persian-ignorant of me for sure, but...i did."
She responded to another tweet on the topic saying, "i thought she was saudi."
ABC president Channing Dungey released a statement Tuesday afternoon cancelling the show, saying, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
