Rihanna Living In United Kingdom During Pandemic, Pushes Court Battle With Dad Back

Rihanna is staying safe overseas during the pandemic and has no plans to return anytime soon.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Rihanna and her father Ronald Fenty have informed the court they reached a deal to postpone their court trial.
The trial was scheduled to begin on June 23, 2020. However, due to the current situation, they agreed to push it to at least September 22.
Rihanna says she is currently living in the United Kingdom, which would make a Los Angeles trial a bit difficult. The judge signed off on the request pushing back the court date.
As The Blast first reported, back in 2019, Rihanna sued her father and his company, Fenty Entertainment, accusing them of profiting off her name without permission.
In the explosive lawsuit, the singer said, “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”
Rihanna claimed her father was creating issues for her by booking shows without her knowledge. The suit said Ronald booked a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Staples Center. Rihanna says she had nothing to do with the bookings and caused damage to her name.
In 2018, Rihanna says her dad tried to trademark the phrase “Fenty” for a line of boutique hotels, but it was shot down by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Over the years, Rihanna says her legal team has fired off several cease and desists to Ronald but he continues on.
The lawsuit is seeking an injunction prohibiting Ronald from using her name and unspecified damages.
Ronald responded to the lawsuit denying all allegations of wrongdoing. Rihanna’s dad argued he was the first to use “Fenty” and not the singer. In his response, Ronald said his entertainment company was launched before Rihanna’s “Fenty Beauty.”
Back in December, Rihanna informed the court she was willing to go to mediation to try and resolve the case. The mediation was scheduled for March before the crisis went down.
