'RHONY' Star Luann de Lesseps Says Tinsley Mortimer Quit The Show After Scott Kluth Engagement

“Real Housewives of New York” star Luann de Lesseps revealed her costar Tinsley Mortimer has quit the show following her engagement to Scott Kluth.

According to People, de Lesseps dropped the bombshell at her show Countess and Friends cabaret show in New Jersey.

The reality star claimed Mortimer had ceased all filming of “RHONY” after getting engaged. She told her audience that Mortimer’s mother, Dale Mercer, was “probably jumping for joy” after Kluth proposed. Her mother had been pushing for Mortimer to get married for years.

De Lesseps did claim Mercer was upset that Mortimer quit the show. She said, “I think she’s more upset that Tinsley’s not filming anymore now that she’s marrying Scott than Tinsley is.”

When pressed about her feeling on Mortimer she said, “I wish her all the best.” She added, “She seems very happy and I want her to be happy and get married. That’s what she wants to do. She’s very traditional. She wants to have a baby. It’s time.” “I just hope there’s not [an alcohol-fueled fight] and the whole thing doesn’t implode,” she added.

Earlier this month, Kluth proposed to Mortimer while in his hometown of Chicago. The on-again-off-again couple shared photos of the proposal with him down on one knee. Scott asked Tinsley’s mother for permission before popping the question.

Mortimer shared a snap of her looking shocked as Kluth is holding the ring while on one knee. She captioned the post, “I always knew it was you!!! ❤️”

Last month, the reality star caused rumors to swirl she was quitting the show. She blew off filming for “RHONY” and flew to Chicago to hang with Kluth.

Mortimer posted photos writing, “Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true” ☺️🌈 #chicago 📸by Scott.”

Mortimer has been a main cast member on “Real Housewives of New York” since Season 9.

The other returning cast includes Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley. The new addition to the cast is a woman named Leah McSweeney.


According to People, Mortimer quit the show with only five weeks left on her contract. Her departure is set to be a major storyline on this upcoming season.

Sources say Kluth gave Mortimer an “ultimatum” of “me or the show.” The source added, “He loves the limelight but hated the negative effect the show had on their relationship. And Tinsley, she’s desperate to make the relationship work and was on the outs with the group as it was.”

They continued, “It was much easier for her to walk away from the friendships she was never going to have to fight for the relationship she always wanted.”

She reportedly blew off a cast trip to Mexico recently. The reality show is expected to premiere in 2020.

Bethenny Frankel was the first "RHONY" to leave the show ahead of this season.
