By Whitney Vasquez

Joe Giudice is backtracking after catching heat for calling the Coronavirus "stupid." The "Real Housewives of Orange County" star took to Instagram and caused a stir after he vented his feelings about the month-long country-wide lockdown in Italy on Monday. Joe Giudice has been in his home country for several months after leaving ICE custody. Amid the outbreak, Teresa Giudice's estranged husband addressed his frustrations over the mandatory lockdown, which he appeared not to take seriously as he strolled through the empty city streets. After experiencing backlash on Tuesday, the Bravo star is now responding to angry fans and seems to have changed his tune.

What He Said:

Hours after his "stupid" comment, Joe Giudice posted a video showing himself with a face mask. In the caption, he made sure that everyone knew he's following the right procedures and protocol to protect himself from catching Coronavirus. "I am not moving around the country," he stated. "I am obeying the law going to work, shopping for family, and NO cafes, gym, and places like that." Joe Giudice then used several hashtags including "pray for humanity," "stay safe out there," and "wash hands." But he's not fully taking back what he said because the star also showed himself on a loop repeating "don't be scared" while hashtagging "be realistic."

His 'Stupid' Comment:

Fans lost it when Joe Giudice posted his first video walking through the empty streets poking fun at everyone for following the mandatory lockdown which includes closing schools, prohibiting travel beyond necessary work, suspending sporting events, and more. Urging people to "grow a set of cojones," Joe Giudice said, "Literally nobody out because of this stupid coronavirus." He then called people who listened and followed the mandatory lockdown "ridiculous" and added, "People are so scared. Unbelievable." In the caption of the controversial video, he claimed that "more people die from Viagra (heart attacks and drug overdose) everyday than this Coronavirus."

Joe Faced Heat After Comment:

He continued, "People here are frantic because government is ridiculous with [lock]down !!!! Sorry Lock down not for me Never again !!!!! Stay safe eat healthy, exercise, and no shaking and [wash hands]!" and hashtagged "lockdown not cool." I live in the red’s for the best!!!" one fan wrote. "Sorry Joe but you really need to treat this virus with respect..." stated another.
