According to court documents obtained by The Blast, comedian Heather McDonald is back in court trying to dismiss Bellino’s case against her.
Back in June, Jim Bellino sued comedian Heather McDonald over a podcast she did with “Real Housewives of Orange County” stars Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador. He accused all three women of defaming his good name during their public conversation.
McDonald fired back at the lawsuit denying all allegations of wrongdoing. She denied Bellino’s claim she caused him financial harm. She demanded the entire case be tossed out.
In newly filed documents, McDonald lays out the entire situation to the judge. She claims to have invited Judge and Beador to tape her podcast because her fans love them.
She filed a declaration stating the reason she talked about Bellino’s divorce. “I found the Bellino divorce to be shocking since a major storyline about their real lives on the reality show was that they both were devout Christians and that Jim did not want Alexis to work outside the home. In that storyline, Alexis was offered a job on a morning TV show in San Diego, but Jim was not supportive and Alexis did not accept the job. Throughout the three seasons that Jim and Alexis starred on the popular television show, which continues to run repeat episodes and weekend-long marathons of past seasons, viewers have seen them both live their lives as a married couple. Alexis would quote the Bible, “I was made from my husband’s rib.”
McDonald is adamant she did nothing wrong and wants the case dismissed.
Months before suing McDonald, Bellino filed a lawsuit against Beador and Judge accusing them of defamation over the same podcast appearance.
He accused the reality stars of spreading lies claiming his divorce was fake. He also took issue with them saying his trampoline business left customers paralyzed and said, “he’s going to jail.”Jim sued seeking in excess of $1 million in damages from Judge and Beador.
Both reality stars fired back demanding Bellio’s lawsuit be thrown out of court. Beador and Judge denied defaming Bellino and said all their statements were rooted in truth.
Beador scored a huge victory when a judge threw out all claims against her. The order noted that Bellino failed to establish a probability of prevailing against Beador on the defamation and other claims, and as a result, the “complaint is stricken in its entirety against Ms. Beador. The clerk shall enter judgment for Ms. Beador.”
Beador was awarded $138,000 in attorney fees from Bellino. He had attempted to shut down her request accusing her bill of being inflated. The judge cut it down a little but still sided with Beador. Judge has not been dismissed and the case against her is continuing on.
