'RHOC' Star Kelly Dodd SLAMMED For 'Tone-Deaf' Pride Month Post

By Whitney Vasquez

Kelly Dodd found herself in some hot water after her pride month post backfired terribly. "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star took to social media to kick off this month's gay pride but given the current climate, many dubbed the post "tone-deaf" for the times. Posting an old group shot showing several of the housewives from different franchises posing on a float with their Bravo daddy, Andy Cohen, Kelly Dodd paired the snap with a playful caption informing fans this is the weekend that changed her life forever.

"Happy Pride Month!! ❤️🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈!!!" the reality star wrote. "This was the weekend I met @rickleventhal with @ramonasinger it changed my life!!" Kelly Dodd continued. "Wishing we could still celebrate 🎉!! #pride🌈 #nycpride #bravo." For the first time in a half-century, this year's LGBTQ Pride March has been canceled in New York City. Heritage of Pride, the organization that runs the annual event, made the announcement in April citing Coronavirus as the reason. Several applauded Kelly Dodd for being an LGBTQ ally but not everyone was impressed with her post.

The streets of big cities like New York in the United States have been flooded with protesters over the past week due to the killing of George Floyd. Before his murder, the streets were cleared because of Coronavirus and strict stay at home orders. Despite COVID-19 still being very much a threat, thousands are putting their health on the line to protest against police brutality, a point that Kelly Dodd's followers want to make sure she doesn't forget. Slamming back at the star for her happy pride post, several took issue.

Some felt she was reaching for attention. "Way to 100% make it about you," one fan clapped back. Another follower informed Kelly Dodd that it was "too soon girly🤦🏻‍♀️." Someone else wanted to make sure she knew that "Silence = Death!!!" and another person took aim at Donald Trump. "Your president hates these people," added another referring to the LGBTQ community. Kelly Dodd got engaged to Fox News senior correspondent Rick Leventhal in November and has taken a lot of flak with many bundling their political beliefs.
